Won New York Theatre Festival’s Summerfest in 2018
The New York Theatre Festival selected 120 productions for their Summerfest Competition, presented at The Hudson Guild Theater. Let There Be Light took home the top prize of BEST MUSICAL/PLAY, won BEST SCORE, and received three BEST SINGER nominations as well as a BEST ACTRESS nomination (Calli McRae).
Let There Be Light is an original theater work in the vignette style with book and music by Brianna Barnes. Based on real interviews, Let There Be Light brings the true stories of experiences, discoveries, struggles, and problems various kinds of people have with religion to life on stage. Through each character's story (Calli McRae) the audience experiences a messy and broken, but colorful and beautiful mosaic.

A musical play about love, risk, and getting it right, a gay psychologist Gregory has spent his adult life denying the loss he experienced as a young man during the AIDS crisis. After a near-death experience “The Lady” appears with her Greek Chorus (Calli McRae), and Gregory is pushed out of his lonely reality by his muse when he enters into a relationship with a young male escort named Chance.
